Thailand beaches

Thousands and thousands of foreign tourists flock to the southern reaches of the Thai Peninsula to spend their days enjoying the world famous sea-side retreats, on the mainland as well as on a spattering of islands in both the Gulf of Thailand and the Indian Ocean. There are so many that we can’t mention them all here, but study your tourist information guides for one that best suits you, we have listed a few of them here, but there are many, many more to choose from depending on your tastes.

Phuket ThailandPHUKET
Phuket is the country’s largest Island just off the mainland in the Adaman Sea and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand. The beaches here attract those addicted to water sports as well as those who just want to sun bake on the white sandy beaches or swim in the azure blue waters. Finding something to do in Phuket is not hard and one can partake in activities such as snorkeling, diving, yachting, horse riding, kayaking, visiting Wildlife and Forest reserves, gibbon sanctuaries and much more.
One of Thailand’s biggest draw cards, Phuket can become a little crowded at peak times, but don’t worry there is plenty to do for everyone!

Samui ThailandKO SAMUI

Ko Samui is fast overtaking Phuket as “the place to go” with younger tourists, and the island is now serviced 15 times a day by Bangkok Airways from Bangkok and ferries also deliver tourists from the mainland. There is no problems getting to and from the popular haunt and there is many different beaches to choose from on the island, which is just as well as most people come to soak up the sun and relax.

Phiphi thailandPHI PHI ISLAND

Before the devastating tsunami struck this small island was the darling of places on the Indian Ocean side on the Thai Peninsular, situated a little south of Phuket and Krabi. Thanks to a concerted effort the island’s infrastructure has been rebuilt and once again Phi Phi is taking its rightful place as a tourist destination of merit. Besides sun baking, this little paradise has many diving, snorkeling, rock climbing and other organised activities in which tourists can take part. It is not as cheap as some of the other islands and sea-side retreats but it remains a big draw card for tourists.

Pattay ThailandPATTAYA

Pattaya has been luring tourists to its beaches for over 40 years and does not look like it is going to slow down anytime soon. Packed with restaurants, shopping centres, midrange hotels, markets, night-clubs and go-go bars as well as a thriving sex tourism section, this coastal town on the Bight of Bangkok has something for everyone. Although at night the place is rocking, if you are an early riser the beaches and streets are much easier to navigate.
The absolutely beautiful half moon shaped Pattaya Bay, lined with coconut palms is definitely worth a visit, even if you move on to a more sedate retreat after a couple of days as within 10kms of this pulsating city are some less “lively” beaches awaiting your discovery.
