The town is most famous as the home of King Rama I. It has a nice Cultural Museum to visit and a very famous Water buffalo market. There is also a large wildlife sanctuary nearby. The impressive Wat Tha Sung, with its gold and crystal halls is also foundhere.

 

 


 
LampangLAMPANG:

This city is home to the renowned Elephant Conservation Centre and also one of the most stunningly beautiful wooden temples in Thailand. Built in 1476 the temple has a triple tiered wooden roof, supported by teak pillars and is considered the oldest wooden building existing in modern Thailand today. The 122 hectare ECC centre provides free medical treatment and a home for sick elephants, as well as working towards the preservation of the species through research and breeding programs.

Sometimes Abbreviated to “Philok” the town is steeped in history, and is home to one Thailand’s most revered and copied Buddha images in Thailand, at Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat. The bronze image is second in importance to the Emerald Buddha.

 

 

 


 
Chiang MaiCHIANG MAI:

This dynamic and modern city has a history that dates back hundreds of years and the old walls of the ancient moated city still stand today. Chiang Mai has many attractions with its cultural history, fantastic handicraft industry, zoo, night safari’s and bazaars, markets, animal parks, but the jewel must be the Wat Doi Suthep, the impressive Wat that overlooks the city from the top of the mountain that glistens in the days sunlight.

 


 
chiang raiCHIANG RAI:

Approximately 180kms north of Chiang Mai, is really a smaller version of Chiang Mai from its night market to the amount of sites to see, however it is a lot more relaxed, and there are many ethnic tribal people here that offer homestays. There is a fascinating temple here called Wat Rong Khun that sparkles white, and even the fish in the ponds are white.

 

 



chiang khongCHIANG KHONG:

Founded in 701AD the history of this town is immense, it is on the banks of the Mekong River opposite the Laos town of Huay Xai. It has become a trading town between Thailand and China, as the river is an ideal trade route.

Thailand’s beaches and coastal islands are famous around the world for their pristine white sandy spaces, coconut trees and temperate weather conditions. On either side of the southern reaches of Thailand you can just about stick a pin in a map while blindfolded and come up with a winner, they are all gorgeous. The Gulf of Thailand offers a fraction more protection to Pattaya, Chonburi, Ko (island) Samet, Ko Chang and Ko Kut on the eastern side of the bay, on the opposite side Hua Hin, Ko Tao, Ko Samui, Chumphon all have something to offer, while on the left hand side of the peninsula Khao Lak, Krabi and Phuket are the most popular and offer the same pristine conditions.
