Itinerary in detail version 1:


 

DAY 1: SIEM REAP - KAMPONG CHAM


Passengers will transfer by coach from the Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa to Kampong Cham. A packed lunch will be provided on the coach and we will stop at Kampong Thom along the way.
Welcome on board PANDAW.

DAY 2: KAMPONG CHAM AREA


Kampong Cham is an important provincial capital with French colonial buildings, busting markets and an attractive setting overlooking the Mekong.

 

Passengers will visit the hilltop temple of Wat Hanchey in the morning. In the afternoon, travel by bus to visit the Twin Holy mountains of Phnom Pros and Phnom Srey (Man and Woman Hill). Continuation to the ecotourism village of Choeungkok supported by the Frech-Cambodian NGO Amica.

DAY 3: TONLE RIVER - KAMPONG CHHNANG

 

Excursion up the Tonle River to Kampong Chhnang by either coach or the ship depending on water levels. Discover the daily life of people in this region. Discovery of vast wetlands around the mouth of the river and explain the lifestyle of the people forced to migrate to the rhythm of rises and falls.

 

Beyond Kampong Chhnang travel by the Pandaw Explorer to discover the vast wetlands around the mouth of the river. Here many fish traps may be seen.

DAY 4: PHNOM PENH


Tour of the capital by cyclo. Phnom penh has retained its charm with its beautiful colonial buildings, wide avenues, monuments and beautiful Khmer architecture.

  • Visit the National Museum of Fine Arts which shows a collection of sculptures exhibited pre-Angkorian and Angkorian
  • Visit the Royal Palace, resplendent in traditional Khmer Archictecture
  • Visit the Silver Pagoda and its magnificent Emerald Buddha, Gold inlaid with diamonds,
  • Visit Wat Phnom, the oldest of the city, and is the origin of the name of the Cambodian capital, and the statue of Madam Penh.

In the afternoon

  • Visit the Museum of Genocidal Crime, which was the S-21 prison - scene of the worst examples of brutality and torture under the infamous Pol Pot.
  • Visit the camp Choeng Ek Killing Field, outside Phnom Penh, the last resting place of many Cambodian people, these killings committed by the brutal Khmer Rouge.

DAY 5: CRUISING THE MEKONG - BORDER CROSSING


We spend the day cruising in the main Mekong channel, an international shipping route for the Vietnamese border for the usual formalities.

DAY 6: CHAU DOC


Spend today exploring Chau Doc and its surroundings. Visit a unique village inhabited by the Cham people and discover their fantastic silk weaving skills.
Continue to a Khmer Temple, floating fish farms and on to Sam Mountain in time to catch the sun set over the countryside.

DAY 7: SA DEC - CAI BE


In the morning passengers will take an exciting Sampan boat excursion to Sa Dec via Vinh Long along canals and backwaters. Passengers will visit Sa Dec and see the local market and the ancient house of Mr, Huyn Thuy Le, the 'lover' of Marguerite Duras, a famous French novelist. At Cai Be, we will cruise through its colourful floating market which takes place daily in front of the catholic church.

DAY 8: MY THO / SAIGON


Early morning sail from Cai Be for My Tho, where passengers disembark in the early morning for a coach transfer to Renaissance Riverside Hotel. Arrive at the hotel late morning.

Transfer from the Renaissance Riverside Hotel in Saigon to the port of My Tho by coach to embark cruise. Welcome on board

DAY 2: CAI BE - SA DEC


Discover the largest floating market in Vietnam and see it in action, CAI BE. We travel south to explore this vital region of snaking waterways, fertile rice fields, cottage industries and hectic floating markets in a region where the mighty Mekong River meets the sea.
